Family: Procyonidae. Native to North and Central America. Introduced to Europe by humans. These nocturnal solitary animals have adapted to human development extremely well. They are excellent climbers and have a bushy tail with light and dark alternating rings. These omnivores prefer ripe fruit, molluscs, amphibians, small mammals, birds, eggs and plants.
